  • DSP delivery
  • Royalty accounting

Overview

Nextfly.me was a German-built music distribution platform for independent artists — the successor to Singo.io, rebuilt around a wider idea of what a distributor should be. Where most distributors stop at “we put your track on Spotify,” Nextfly bundled the whole business of being an independent artist: distribution, payouts, merch, ticketing, fan clubs, and crowdfunding in one dashboard.

Its pitch was blunt about the incumbents: “Music Distribution Revolution. This is the future. Publish Your Music on all streaming platforms around the world. Keep 100% of your streaming royalties.”

Key Features

  • 24-hour distribution to 220+ stores: Upload today, live on Spotify, Apple Music, TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Deezer, Napster, SoundCloud and Shazam tomorrow.
  • 7-day payout: The headline differentiator. Most distributors settle streaming revenue on a quarterly lag; Nextfly paid out weekly, with advance payments and Quick Pay for artists who needed cash sooner.
  • Artist dashboard: Total releases, stream counts, weekly stream deltas, wallet balance, per-month earnings breakdowns, and upcoming release tracking with UPC and distribution status — all in one view.
  • Beyond distribution: Merch stores, event ticketing, fan clubs, crowdfunding, NFT minting, and hosted artist websites, so an artist’s whole revenue stack lived in one account.
  • Tiered plans: A genuinely free Starter tier up through Basic ($3.49/mo), Pro ($8.99/mo) and Label ($14.99/mo) — priced deliberately under competitors who sold the same feature set as a “pro” plan.

Technologies Used

  • WordPress-based marketing site with a custom application dashboard behind authentication.
  • Streaming store delivery pipeline: Metadata and audio delivery to 220+ DSPs, with UPC/ISRC handling and per-store distribution status.
  • Royalty accounting and payouts: Per-release, per-store earnings aggregation feeding a wallet and weekly payout flow.

Challenges and Learnings

The 7-day payout promise is the whole product, and it’s an accounting problem long before it’s a UI problem. Streaming platforms report earnings on their own irregular schedules, which means paying an artist weekly requires fronting money against revenue you haven’t been paid yet — so the reporting pipeline has to be trustworthy enough to underwrite that risk. Getting per-release, per-store numbers to reconcile cleanly was the difference between a feature and a liability.

Outcome

Nextfly gave independent artists a distribution deal without the deal — full royalty retention, fast payouts, and the surrounding business tools that usually require a label. The platform has since gone offline; the screenshots here are recovered from archived captures of the live product.
